Flanagan, Minnesota's lieutenant governor, draws on growing up with a single mom who relied on food stamps and Medicaid, and says the system is rigged against working people and that democracy is under threat. On government reform, she takes no corporate PAC money and supports laws protecting free and fair elections, banning corporate money in elections and requiring disclosure of all donors, ending tax and payroll-tax special treatment for corporations and the wealthiest, banning stock trading by all federal elected officials including members of Congress and the president, banning elected and appointed officials from lobbying, and reforming the Supreme Court. Calling health care a human right, she supports Medicare for All and, until it passes, expanded coverage; banning insurer prior authorization; restoring Medicaid cuts; adding vision, dental, and hearing to Medicare and Medicaid; restoring ACA tax credits and disease research funding; Medicare and Medicaid negotiation of all drug prices; mental health parity and workforce expansion; and expanded prenatal and postnatal care to reduce maternal mortality, especially for Black and Native mothers. On the economy, citing her work on Minnesota's minimum wage and paid leave campaigns, she supports a $17 federal minimum wage indexed to inflation, national paid family and medical leave, small business loans and tax fairness relative to large corporations, universal child care, an expanded Child Tax Credit, and reversing cuts to SNAP, Meals on Wheels, and WIC. For farmers, she backs market access abroad, a comprehensive five-year Farm Bill, right to repair, biofuels, and sustainable aviation fuel. On climate, she supports renewable energy, climate adaptation, and action on climate change, citing Minnesota's 100% carbon-free electricity by 2040 commitment. Her priorities also include protecting free speech, freedom of worship, voting rights, and reproductive health care, and easing burdens across an overloaded immigration system.
