Turek describes a "prairie populist" platform to rebuild the American Dream, emphasizing his working-class background, his experience with spina bifida, and a bipartisan record in the Iowa House. On the economy, he says he will cut taxes for the middle class and close loopholes for billionaires and large corporations, impose a federal ban on food price gouging, raise the minimum wage and index it to inflation, ban private equity firms from buying single-family homes and farmland, simplify permitting for affordable housing, pass the PRO Act, strengthen Social Security by having billionaires pay their fair share, take on drug companies and pharmacy benefit managers, repeal SNAP cuts, expand job training and apprenticeships, and crack down on monopolies. Calling health care a human right, he backs restoring Medicaid funding, protecting and expanding the Affordable Care Act and its subsidies, codifying Roe v. Wade, expanding Medicare drug-price negotiation, capping drug costs, barring one company from owning an insurer, PBM, and pharmacy chain, rural mental health and hospital investment, telehealth, limits on private equity in elder and health care, paid family and medical leave, a public option, barring insurers from denying doctor-prescribed care, and ending surprise billing. On corruption, he refuses corporate PAC money and supports banning stock trading by members and spouses, banning corporate PAC money, the DISCLOSE Act, a constitutional amendment reversing Citizens United, term limits for Congress and Supreme Court justices, Supreme Court ethics enforcement, suspending congressional pay during shutdowns, and required annual town halls. For farmers, he supports a Farm Bill with no congressional recess if it lapses, federal right to repair, ending tariffs he calls chaotic, mandatory country-of-origin labeling, action against agribusiness and meatpacking monopolies, protecting rural health programs, and barring eminent domain for corporate use. On freedoms, he supports protecting contraception and IVF, free speech and protest, marriage equality, a simplified path to legal citizenship, and removing barriers for Americans with disabilities.
