Kreiss-Tomkins, a Sitka native who served a decade in the legislature, says he is running to bring a new generation of leadership and to support schools, lower energy costs, build homes, and balance the budget. On education, he would fully fund schools, pass a constitutional amendment to forward-fund education, fund sports, electives, and extracurriculars, get cell phones out of classrooms, pay teachers fairly, and create a defined-benefit retirement system for teachers. On energy, he supports all sources including renewables, hydro, and natural gas, requiring the four Railbelt utilities to cooperate, partnering with industry on an Alaska natural gas pipeline, and the Renewable Energy Fund. On health care, he would partner with tribal health organizations to maximize federal funding, promote telehealth, support appropriate scopes of practice for nurse practitioners and others, expand in-home care for seniors and people with disabilities, strengthen facility safety standards, and outlaw excessive drug markups while requiring price transparency. On fisheries, he would rein in bottom-trawl bycatch, keep commercial permits in Alaska, finance entry for young fishermen, prioritize restoring Chinook runs, seek balance on the Board of Fish, support CFEC independence, nominate North Pacific Council members who back Alaska-based fishermen, and invest in ports and harbors. He supports a moratorium on new data centers until comprehensive regulation passes, local approval with community benefit agreements, making data centers pay full electricity costs, AI company liability in Alaska courts, human decision-makers when agencies use AI, disclosure of AI in political ads and bans on misleading deepfakes, and protections against AI-enabled crime. On housing, he would cut red tape, open state land near communities, remove barriers to manufactured and modular homes, use AHFC and AIDEA as financing partners, capture more federal housing funds, tax nonresident "dark homes," and create a housing task force with expedited permitting. He pledges to invest in domestic violence and sexual assault services and response teams, prosecute perpetrators, and support efforts on missing and murdered Indigenous people. On government, he would remove state-chartered corporations' political spending power, reinstate campaign contribution limits, appoint qualified board members, and bar foreign-funded junkets. He supports a woman's right to choose, contraception access, a ban on Flock cameras and similar AI mass surveillance, anti-discrimination protections including for Alaska Natives and LGBTQ Alaskans, protecting voter data from federal intrusion, the rural subsistence preference, and Division of Subsistence funding. He also favors core infrastructure over megaprojects, rebuilding the ferry system with bond-financed vessels, funding first responders and Village Public Safety Officers, constitutionally protecting the Permanent Fund, and ensuring all oil and gas producers pay a fair share.
