Nixon, a former labor organizer and mother of five, says government should work for working people rather than corporations, billionaires, or either party's establishment, and that costs have outpaced wages. Her "Working Families Guarantee" calls for free paid family and sick leave, a national rent freeze and eviction moratorium of up to two years, a universal jobs program with inflation-adjusted wages, taxing billionaires, and prioritizing domestic needs over overseas military spending. On health care, she supports Medicare for All with no premiums, deductibles, or copays and coverage of dental, vision, hearing, mental health, substance use, reproductive and maternity care, and prescriptions; capping drug costs; protecting abortion, contraception, and IVF; expanding home- and community-based long-term care; canceling medical debt; and guaranteed paid leave. She supports universal child care and pre-K with capped costs, living wages for early educators, universal school meals, tuition-free public college and trade school, student debt cancellation, fully funded K-12 schools and higher teacher pay, and expanded apprenticeships. On housing, she proposes massive investment in permanently affordable housing, national rent stabilization, just-cause eviction protections and a right to counsel, curbs on corporate landlords buying single-family homes, expanded Section 8 vouchers, federal reinsurance and consumer protections for the property insurance crisis, and hurricane resilience funding. For workers, she backs the PRO Act, a living minimum wage indexed to inflation for all workers including immigrant and incarcerated workers, ending right-to-work laws, extending protections to farmworkers and domestic workers, expanding Social Security and protecting pensions, and opposing outsourcing. On technology, she would make tech companies pay for their data centers' energy and water, pause new data centers until federal guardrails exist, protect workers from AI displacement, strengthen antitrust enforcement against big tech, protect data privacy, and require AI chatbot safety protocols, disclosure, bans on impersonating licensed professionals, and independent testing before products reach children. On foreign policy, she favors diplomacy and restraint, ending the war in Iran, multilateralism through the UN, a peace for Palestinians and Israelis based on equality and international law, surging humanitarian aid to crisis areas, enforcing the Leahy Law, and restoring UN and humanitarian funding. On justice and immigration, she supports ending mass incarceration, federal marijuana decriminalization, demilitarizing police, a path to citizenship for Dreamers and undocumented residents, a deportation moratorium pending an audit, abolishing and rebuilding ICE, ending for-profit prisons, and requiring warrants for surveillance data.
