Ford, Nevada's attorney general and a former public school math teacher, calls himself the "make-stuff-cost-less" candidate. On housing, he would work with local governments to ease permitting and use vacant land for new construction, oppose tariffs that raise housing costs, and crack down on Wall Street firms buying homes. On health costs, citing more than $1.2 billion in opioid settlements he won, he would address pharmacy benefit manager practices that keep drug rebates, create a medical debt relief program, and crack down on price gouging and fraudulent medical billing. On energy, citing his challenge to NV Energy's mandatory demand charge, he pledges to prevent arbitrary increases in household costs, prioritize clean and affordable energy and energy-sector jobs, and expand residential solar and efficiency incentives. On data centers, he says he will not let them raise Nevadans' costs, will stop awarding them tax breaks until they meet their commitments, will require them to bring their own clean energy, grid infrastructure, and water and to conserve water, and will ensure communities are heard. On education, he cites suing to protect federal Department of Education funding for Nevada and winning student loan relief from a national servicer, and pledges to keep fighting federal cuts to Nevada schools and widen opportunity for every student.
